Business automation: where should you start?

Choose a suitable workflow, test the exceptions and measure time and cost before expanding.

Document the current task

Start with repetitive work you understand. When a customer places an order, what happens next? Who checks the information, approves the request and contacts the customer? Write down the steps and waiting points before choosing a tool.

Define exceptions and permissions

Not every request should run automatically. Data may be incomplete, notifications may repeat or another system may fail. Decide when to retry and when to stop for human review. Give each connection only the permissions it needs.

Trial it away from customer data

Use isolated test records. Check that replaying an event does not create a second order and that failures are visible to the responsible person. Document settings, account ownership and the steps for pausing the workflow.

Calculate value from your own data

Compare task time with software, maintenance and exception-review costs. Saved time does not automatically become profit, and there is no guaranteed three-month payback. Expand when the trial demonstrates practical, traceable value.

  • Task time before and after the trial
  • Operating and review costs
  • Error frequency and recovery steps
